That is your best action because the numbers in your report show something seriously amiss. Thank you in advance and here is the entire EtreCheck report: I can't see anywhere it actually states test results such as read/write speed. My understanding is that I may be able to replace the failing drive myself and so I'm here to ask for your help to understand the EtreCheck results. I have a 3TB fusions drive and assuming I do have a failing hard drive, I can't find anything in the report to suggest if it's the 128 GB SSD or the 3TB drive that is failing. Both times I got the same result: failing hard drive. I discovered EtreCheck and ran it twice to see what the issue might be. The only recent software installations I did were an update to several Microsoft Office programs, but I suspect the slowdown is a coincidence not related to those updates. The recent issues are simply unbearable, like taking minutes to open any program (even Safari). Even though it's 5+ years old, I've never noticed any performance issues until now. ![]() Please look over the report and let me know what else I might do.įailing hard drive: EtreCheck report for iMac (late 2014) I recently noticed a drastic slowdown in performance with my iMac (late 2014, 27" 5K). The Etrecheck report, below, shows what I have tried so far. I need to see if I can resolve the problem myself (with support from here) or just contact the authorized Apple support people and tell them the drive they put in is failing already. I been using info gleaned from this community and from chats with Apple support to try and find out the underlying problem. ![]() The Etrecheck reports have consistently said that I have an older mechanical disk and I have a "Failing hard drive" Lately the mac has slowed down considerably, and to a point where I can't, in a practical way, use final cut pro (that's my main use of the mac for anything serious). After that the mac worked ok but certainly not up to the original speed. I ended up bringing to a local authorized Apple outfit and they eventually replaced the 3 tb mechanical drive. About 4 months ago my iMac started to slow down and do some crazy stuff.
